ENVIRONMENTAL WALLS IN EL CARMELO PARISH

ENVIRONMENTAL WALLS IN EL CARMELO PARISH

ALTROPICO Foundation has been working with youth groups that developed activities related to agroecology conservation and other social topics. One of these groups is the Avekanis Carmelitas Group in El Carmelo Parish, which is in Eastern Carchi close to the Colombian border, on the Amazon slope.

Ten people are part of this group. Currently, they are performing some activities related to tourism in El Carmelo, promoting the natural riches, agroecology activities, and bird watching.

An outstanding activity performed by the group is the five walls. With the advice of Mr. Libardo Tello, a renowned artist of the town and a member of the Avekanis Group, the group painted five walls on the most visited places of the parish, inspired in five different topics like birds, orchids, and mammals.

These activities were carried out thanks to funding from Amigos de la Tierra in Sweden.
